Frequently Asked Questions

Booking & Pricing

We charge £110 per hour. The total cost depends on the size, complexity, and placement of your tattoo. Simple small designs may take 1–2 hours, while larger pieces can span multiple sessions. Contact us with your idea for an accurate quote — our artists are happy to discuss pricing before you commit.

You can book through our contact form, by emailing [email protected], or by messaging your preferred artist directly on Instagram. Include details about your design idea, preferred placement, and approximate size.

We are primarily an appointment-only studio. However, we occasionally have availability for walk-in clients depending on the day. We recommend contacting us first to check availability rather than turning up unannounced.

Yes, a non-refundable deposit is required to secure your appointment. This is deducted from the final cost of your tattoo. Deposits ensure commitment from both sides and allow your artist to begin designing your custom piece.

Yes, we accept card payments as well as cash. We accept all major credit and debit cards.

We understand that plans change. Please give us at least 48 hours' notice if you need to reschedule. Late cancellations or no-shows may result in the loss of your deposit.

Design & Styles

Our eight resident artists collectively cover all major tattoo styles including geometric, traditional, Japanese, realism, portraiture, fine line, watercolour, anime & pop culture, blackwork, Chicano, neo-traditional, and cover-ups. Visit our artists page to find the right artist for your style.

Absolutely! We encourage you to bring reference images, sketches, or any visual inspiration. Your artist will work with you to refine and customise the design to work perfectly as a tattoo. Every piece we create is custom-designed specifically for you.

Yes! Several of our artists specialise in cover-up tattoos. The approach depends on the size, colour, and placement of the existing tattoo. Book a consultation so we can assess your old tattoo and discuss the best options.

This depends entirely on the size and complexity of the design. A small simple design might take 1–2 hours, while a detailed sleeve could take multiple full-day sessions. Your artist will give you an estimated timeframe during your consultation.

Before Your Appointment

  • Eat a substantial meal beforehand
  • Stay well hydrated
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior
  • Get a good night's sleep
  • Wear comfortable clothing that provides easy access to the tattoo area
  • Moisturise the area in the days leading up
  • Don't sunburn the area

You're welcome to bring one friend for support. However, space in the studio can be limited, so we ask that they're respectful of the working environment and other clients.

You must be 18 years or older to get a tattoo in the UK. We will ask for valid photo ID (passport or driving licence) to verify your age. No exceptions.

We recommend waiting until after pregnancy and breastfeeding before getting tattooed. This is for your safety and the baby's health, as your immune system is under additional strain during this time.

Aftercare & Safety

Your artist will provide detailed aftercare instructions tailored to your tattoo. Generally:

  • Keep the wrap on for the advised duration
  • Wash gently with lukewarm water and fragrance-free soap
  • Apply a thin layer of aftercare cream
  • Avoid submerging in water (baths, pools, sea)
  • Stay out of direct sunlight
  • Do not pick, scratch, or peel the healing tattoo
  • Wear loose, breathable clothing over the area

The surface heals within 2–3 weeks, but full healing beneath the skin takes around 4–6 weeks. During this time, follow your aftercare routine carefully. Larger and more complex tattoos may take slightly longer.

Absolutely. Electric Lady is a fully licensed and registered tattoo studio. We maintain the highest hygiene standards, use single-use needles, medical-grade sterilisation equipment, and premium inks. Your safety is our top priority.

If you have eczema, psoriasis, or any other skin condition, please let your artist know during your consultation. In most cases, we can still tattoo you, but we may need to work around affected areas or advise waiting for a flare-up to subside.
